The workflow
Automatic click zoom provides a starting point for a recorded demonstration. Review each zoom, adjust its timing and framing, and use cursor styling to make the next action visible without making every movement distracting.
Start with the action captured in the recording
A click can identify a useful focus point: opening a menu, selecting a setting, or confirming an action. LumaTake records cursor information for its own screen captures and uses it in the zoom and pointer workflow. Zooms remain part of the edit rather than a decision you must get right during the take.
An imported video is different. A flat MP4 does not contain the same recorded cursor-event data. You can edit the picture, but should not expect it to reveal every original click automatically.
Let the viewer finish reading
A zoom should arrive when a detail becomes relevant and stay long enough to make sense. Avoid a tight crop that hides the result of the click. For a dropdown menu, include the selected option; for a form submission, let the viewer see the confirmation.
- Remove zooms on incidental clicks.
- Keep enough surrounding interface to explain where the viewer is.
- Preview a sequence at normal speed, not only while scrubbing.
- Check the final video at its intended display size.
Use cursor effects as explanation
Cursor smoothing, pointer styling, click highlights, and cursor rings make movement easier to follow. Choose a cursor that remains visible over both light and dark areas of the interface. A dramatic effect that looks appealing over an empty background may cover a small button.
For an accessible demonstration, say what you are selecting and include a clear caption or callout where needed. A cursor ring alone cannot explain an unlabeled icon.
Recheck zooms when you change the canvas
A zoom that works in a wide tutorial can crop out context in a vertical short. Revisit the most detailed section after changing aspect ratio. The product demo guide covers planning the actions, while the vertical guide covers the second composition pass.
Automatic framing saves setup work, but the finished explanation still needs an editorial review. Choose the moments that teach something rather than maximizing the number of effects.
Questions about this workflow
Can I change an automatic zoom?
Yes. The zoom workflow is editable, so you can refine the focus, timing, and movement after recording.
Does every imported video get automatic click zooms?
No. Capture-driven zooms depend on cursor and event data from a compatible recording. Imported flat video does not recreate that data.
Does zoom improve a low-resolution source?
Cropping can make a detail larger, but it cannot guarantee readable text that was missing from the source. Capture a readable interface before adding zoom.
