The workflow
LumaTake combines capture with a multi-track editor. Trim or split clips, adjust zoom and camera tracks, add graphics, and export a finished file. It is designed for tutorials, product walkthroughs, and presenter videos on macOS 26 or later.
Build the explanation before adding effects
Remove the false start, put the useful steps in order, and leave enough time for a viewer to understand each action. The timeline supports trimming, splitting, moving, duplicating, and deleting clips. Video, audio, captions, zooms, camera shots, and graphics have separate roles in the edit.
For a software tutorial, keep the moment that shows the result close to the action that produced it. Cut loading time when it adds nothing, but retain a pause when someone needs to read a dialog.
Control where the viewer looks
Refine automatic zooms and cursor emphasis instead of making every click equally prominent. Use stage keyframes for animated layout changes and editable speed ramps when a long interaction can be shortened without losing its meaning.
The editor includes transitions, color adjustments, LUTs, and 28 title templates spanning intros, outros, lower thirds, chapters, and callouts. Treat a title as information: name the section, identify the speaker, or explain the next action.
Keep narration, captions, and camera choices together
Correct your transcript before styling the captions. Review filler-word and silence edits in context so they do not remove a useful hesitation or cut into the start of a word. Mix narration above background music and check the first and last frame of each transition.
For supported multi-camera recordings, use A/B/C shot choices in the edit. Up to three cameras can participate in the capture workflow. See screen and camera recording for the distinction between a local camera setup and a remote guest session.
Make a file for the place it will be watched
- Export H.264 or HEVC for a finished video, or ProRes 422 for an editing handoff.
- Create a GIF for a short loop that does not need sound.
- Choose burned-in captions or a separate SRT/VTT subtitle file.
- Keep the editable project and source media when you expect revisions.
A vertical clip needs another composition pass, not just another filename. Follow the vertical video guide and check labels, cursor motion, and captions at phone size.
Questions about this workflow
Can I edit an existing video?
The editor supports imported media as well as LumaTake recordings. Capture-specific data, such as recorded cursor events, is not automatically available in an imported flat video.
Is this a cloud collaboration editor?
LumaTake uses local media and project files. Do not expect a shared browser workspace, hosted review links, or simultaneous editing by teammates.
Can I create subtitles without burning them into the picture?
Yes. Export supports SRT and VTT sidecar subtitles as well as burned-in captions.
