The workflow

Recording, editing, and caption transcription use local media on your Mac. A LumaTake account connects your access and services. Sign-in, subscription access, downloads, publishing, and live streaming use the network when you choose those workflows.

What local processing means
ActivityBoundary
Record and edit a takeRecording and project media are stored locally.
Generate supported captionsSpeech processing runs on the Mac; language assets may need download.
Sign in or manage accessAccount and subscription information can pass through connected services.
Publish, broadcast, or share a fileMedia leaves the Mac for the destination you choose.

Local processing is not a blanket promise of zero network activity or regulatory certification. Read the privacy policy for account, subscription, and provider data handling.

Remove unnecessary private information before the take

Use a demonstration account and sample data where possible. Close unrelated messages, hide notifications, and choose a window or region that contains only the explanation. That reduces the amount of cleanup needed later.

LumaTake includes capture-time privacy masks and editor masks. A mask applied during capture and one added afterward solve different problems: editing a mask into an export does not remove the original unmasked information from the source recording.

A mask needs to cover the whole appearance

  1. Identify where the sensitive item first becomes visible.
  2. Check the mask at the start, middle, and end of that interval.
  3. Inspect scrolling, transitions, resizing, and zoom changes that might expose another area.
  4. Review the exported file before sharing, not only the editing preview.

Privacy blur is a visual treatment, not a guarantee that every secret has been found. For credentials or information that must never be disclosed, use safe sample data before recording. Do not distribute the original project as a substitute for a reviewed final export.

Keep control of the files you hand off

Export ordinary local files, use system sharing, or publish to connected social accounts. Choose an appropriate destination for the audience and keep source projects separate from finished deliverables. Social publishing does not turn the original editing project into a hosted review link.

For account posting, schedules, and comments, see social publishing in LumaTake. Review the destination and audience before sending a file.

A save location inside a folder synced by another app may be uploaded by that app. Local file creation does not disable your own backup or synchronization tools. Check the location if keeping a particular recording on one machine matters.

Questions about this workflow

Does local recording mean I never need the internet?

No. Account and subscription operations, language downloads, and connected destinations can require the internet even when recording and editing use local media.

Does an editing mask erase the original recording?

No. A mask added after recording changes the rendered result. Treat the original source as sensitive if it contains information you later covered.

Does LumaTake provide a public video hosting link?

You can publish to connected platforms or share exported files. Hosting and playback on a social platform are different from a LumaTake-hosted review-link service.
